Less fat pants

By Jamie

My skinny jeans are a size 14.  Just goes to show one woman’s skinny jeans are another woman’s fat pants.  My fat pants are a size 22.

As expected of any currently obese, formerly slightly overweight woman, I have a whole range of sizes in my closet from my skinny 14′s to my godawful 22′s.  This is a good thing because until I can squeeze my butt back into those 14′s, I don’t plan on wearing any one size for any length of time. I certainly don’t want to spend money on clothes that will soon go the way of my fat pants, that is, straight to the donation bin.

And that’s what I wanted to write about today. My fat pants are now OTL or ”Officially Too Loose”.  I got sick of hiking them up all the time so I rummaged around in my closet to see what else I had and I found two pairs of pants that I wore before I got pregnant with my youngest son.  I put them on and lo and behold, they fit!  I am now wearing pre-pregnancy pants!  Ok, so they’re pre-second-pregnancy, but still.  They’re smaller and I’m thrilled.

Something else equally wonderful happened to me recently, as I was strutting around in my less-fat pants, three different people noticed my wieght loss and commented to me that I was looking thinner.  This is huge.  When you’re as big as me, you’ve got to lose a lot of weight, in my case 25 pounds, before anyone notices.  I’m sure it helps that my less-fat pants have a better fit, where my fat pants are cut about as flattering as a potato sack.

Reaching this milestone gives me even more motivation to continue this new and healthy way of life.  I can’t wait for these less-fat pants to start sagging and I’m looking forward to what new, even-less-fat pants I might find at the back of my closet.  Ah, to be back in my teens again (size 18 that is).

My skinny jeans are a size 14 too. I think I have a pair of size 12 Gap sorts somewhere but I’m not entirely convinced they weren’t mislabeled. :)

How exciting to fit into smaller pants – yay for you!

Great job! I have some 14s that I wore in college that will be my “Test pants” when I’m at my goal weight. They are totally out of style but I just can’t get rid of them until I fit in them again. Great job on the size-loss…being heavy not only means you have to lose a lot to get noticed, but have to lose a lot to go down a size. Hooray for you!

    Yay for you!
I lost 40 pounds before anyone noticed, so I know what you mean. I have a whole range of clothes sizes in my closet too. The difference this time is that when I “out-shrink” something, it is going straight to the donation bin. Not into a storage bin (as usual), because this time I truly believe I can make it.
    Good luck and congratulations!
