Tagalongs, Samoas and Thin Mints…Oh MY!
in Blogs

I am not going to weigh or measure myself this week. Why you ask? Three words:
Girl.
Scout.
Cookies.
When AndreAnna wrote a few weeks ago about Red Light foods, I’d forgotten all about the Girl Scout cookies, but then wouldn’t you know it, a few days later a friend’s daughter came up to me with an order form and the next thing I knew I’d ordered two boxes each of my favorite cookies. Said cookies arrived on Monday and it seems before I even got the boxes all the way inside my house, BAM! Gone was an entire tube of Thin Mints.
As a precautionary measure, I stuck half the order in the freezer. Did you know freezing Tagalongs actually makes them better? Wow, I wish I hadn’t discovered that.
We’re down to 8 Samoas, and I’m bound by marraige to save those for my husband as they are his favorite cookie and he didn’t get so much as a single Thin Mint (My 3 year old and I downed both boxes already). So my cookie binge is over for 2009, and you know what? It was worth it! I LOVE me some Girl Scout cookies, I’m just grateful they only come around once a year.

The serving size for Samoas is ONE BOX.

My order of GS cookies arrived after I committed to a Biggest Loser type weight loss group and I gave away all five boxes. Gave them away. I didn’t know I would ever have the will power to do that!

I don’t care how cute the little girls are, or how worthy the cause: I refuse to buy that crap. I. Will. Not, Have. It. In. My. House. It’s hard enough to say “No” to all the crap I’m proffered OUTSIDE my house without inviting the bad stuff to come live INSIDE.

I’m back on the wagon after a GS cookie disaster too! I agree…it is all too easy to down an entire box of samoas! (And, sadly, I also actually thought “red light food” while I was helping myself to my seventh or so cookie).

I try to pretend I am saving money and eat some of a friends at their house, but really I am trying to save myself from past the point of no return. And yes I agree I don’t know why they make anything other than Samoas.
