Back to School

By Kaitlyn

I spent most of August… vacationing. After my triathlon at the end of July, I decided I’d exercise when I wanted but cut myself some slack if I didn’t want to. I decided I’d eat what I wanted and not rake myself over the coals for it. And you know? It went pretty well.

That said, party time is over and school’s back in for all the kids (and me, the old lady in class). I’m back to eating well and exercising regularly. I haven’t been updating because, quite frankly, I feel like there’s nothing exciting to say.

I’ll be running a 10k at the end-ish of the month and hope to gain a PB (I’m aiming for 55 minutes or so), I’ve decided to leave Weight Watchers once and for all (for now?) and see how it goes. I’ve been eating what I want, but trying to listen to my body. Because what my body wants and what my mouth wants are often different things. So I think long and hard about something before I eat it. I’ve been making sure to eat lots of protein and veggies, to snack on nuts and fruit. If I’m hungry, I eat, if I’m not I don’t.

I’m not sure where to go with my posts here, surely no one is interested in reading about my weekly runs? I’m still seriously considering a fall marathon in 2011, and I have some vague training plans for that, but it’s still a long way off. I’ve been swimming once a week and plan to keep that up through the fall and winter.

My kids are back in daycare, I’m back in school, and a regular schedule always makes life easier to plan and handle.

What about you guys? Has your workout schedule changed/regulated now that summer is over?

I love reading about what people are doing to stay in shape, even if it’s just weekly summaries. And I don’t know about you, but crazy shit is always happening to me when I’m out running, so surely posts will write themselves in the course of normal life!
