Back to It

By Liz

Soooooooooooooooo I was doing good with consistency through December, hitting up my new Crossfit gym 3-4x/ week, and then I had some work travel, and then I got stranded in an airport overnight, and then I got home to a house full of family (funny how that works) and any pretense of a schedule or routine was G-O-N-E.

That’s a long way of saying: Forgive me, Father, it’s been two weeks since my last WOD (any Catholics in the group? No?)

I plan to get back to the CF box tomorrow AM, but for today, I just HAD to do something. Had to. So I broke out one of my old travel WODs: 10 rounds of: 10 air aquats, 10 push ups, 10 sit ups.

Now, this is not the WOD that is going to erase my Christmas sloth. In fact, mentally it feels so easy that I wondered if it was even worth doing at ALL. I felt extremely lame working through this, and kept hearing my negative side going “This does NOT count. This does NOT count. This isn’t even WORTH IT you should just stop NOW.”

And maybe it’s not “worth it.” But it got my heart rate up, it got my legs moving, my pecs burning (I suck at push-ups), and it got me going. Gotta start somewhere, right? Right. I missed my routine, and I’m chomping at the bit to get back to it.

Happy New Year to you all, and welcome back to the routine. We spent the past few weeks giving gifts to our loved ones – it’s your turn (again) to give the gift of health and fitness to yourself.

Hope you survived your first workout back! I completely fall apart when I’m out of my routine. All my discipline goes out the window. (I have an offsite WOD app on my phone that I have looked at many times, but never, ever used.) I’m sure your easy workout at home helped when you got back to the gym — good for you for doing something!

Dude. That’s a lot of stuff. I mean.. you did 100 pushups. That alone would kill me. Give a girl some credit!
